Laser hair Treatment
History demonstrates that hair removal methods have been around for a long time. When most people think of evolution, they automatically picture a hairy caveman. Even though hair removal has evolved since the Stone Age, it still has a long way to go. New devices are constantly being developed that are more effective and easier to use than what was available as recently as few years ago.
How lasers work?
The primary principle behind laser hair removal is selective photothermolysis. Lasers can cause localized damage by selectively heating dark target matter, melanin, in the hair follicle, while not heating the rest of the skin. Light is absorbed by dark objects, so laser energy can be absorbed by dark material in the skin, but with much more speed and intensity.
Hair growth is defined by three distinct cycles. Anagen, is the cycle of growth, during which the follicle is active. Catagen is the intermediate cycle, in which growth ceases and the follicle regresses. The third cycle, Telogen, is the dormant cycle, in which hair will shed and fall out. Laser hair removal targets hair in the first cycle Anagen. During treatment, the laser light is absorbed by the hair follicle and converted into heat, damaging the follicle and preventing further growth.
Which Lasers are used?
1. Long Pulse Diode Laser
- Long Pulse Diode Laser is specifically designed for Indian Skin types III, IV &V.
- It is approved by the US FDA.
- The Long Pulse Diode Laser system with its unique combinations of laser parameter &patented chill tip protection makes it virtually painless &superior to the other lasers
2. Nd: Yag Laser
The Q-Switched YAG laser creates an invisible beam of light that is pulsed at a billionth of a second. The light beam is focused on the pigment in the hair follicles which causes “peri follicular inflammation”. The pigment is fragmented and subsequently reabsorbed over a 6 to 8 week period. This treatment is a simple, non-invasive procedure with minimal risk and minimal recovery time. Most patients notice a mild “sunburn” feeling post treatment that quickly subsides.
3. Intense Pulse Light
Intense pulse light uses intense pulses of non-coherent light distributed over a range of wavelengths from 500 nm to 1200 nm, for removal of hair and other purposes.
Contrary to what is often claimed, photoepilation is not a permanent hair removal method but a permanent hair reduction method. This means that although IPL treatments with these devices will reduce the total number of body hairs, they will not result in a permanent removal of all hair.
The ‘soprano ice’ platform represents a new era in laser hair removal technology and treatment methods. By incorporating multiple laser wavelengths and technologies, soprano ice helps treat the widest range of hair types quickly and painlessly, all year round.
- Virtually painless
- Proven safety record
- All skin types
- Tanned skin
- Full coverage rate
Simultaneous contact cooling
ice(Tm) is an advanced cooling technology that cools the skin during treatment for longer periods of time. The ice(Tm) tech cold sapphire tip minimizes the risk of burns on the skin surface while maintaining heat within the dermis where hair follicles are treated. Contact cooling increases patient comfort, making treatments more enjoyable than ever before. Eradicate the thick hair with the 810 diode and mop up the thin hair with the alex.
How many sittings are required for lasers?
Hair cells, even those in close proximity to each other, may not be in the same hair cycle concurrently. It is for this reason that several treatments are often needed for laser hair removal to completely remove all hair from an area; hair follicles that are in the Catagen or Telogen cycles will not be affected.
During the procedure, the laser will be held over the treatment area, and will pulse for a fraction of a second. Multiple pulses will be administered during each treatment; a small area such as the upper lip or underarm may take a few minutes, while a large area such as the back or legs may take up to an hour or more.
Ideal candidates for lasers
Lasers are beneficial for both males and females. In males problems of excessive chest hair, beard and back can be addressed. As for females, whole body hair reduction treatments are useful. Even genital areas can be successfully treated albeit more sittings are needed.
Benefits of Laser Hair Reduction
Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, leg, arm, underarm, bikini line, and other areas.
Benefits of laser hair removal include:
Precision: Lasers selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.
Speed: Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. The laser can treat an area approximately the size of a coin every second. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, such as the back or legs, may take up to an hour.
Predictability: Ninety percent of patients have permanent hair loss after an average of three to five sessions.
What to Expect During Laser Hair reduction
Just before the procedure, hair in the area to be treated will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the skin surface. The laser equipment will be adjusted according to the color, thickness, and location of your hair being treated as well as your skin color.
Appropriate eye protection will be provided.
Next, the doctor will give a pulse of light to the treatment area and watch the area for several minutes to make sure the best settings were used and to check for bad reactions. Once no reactions are seen, the procedure is completed by the treating team.
When the procedure is completed, you may be given ice packs, anti-inflammatory creams or lotions, or cold water to ease any discomfort. You should schedule your next treatment four to six weeks later.
Recovery and Risks
For a day or two afterward, the treated area of your skin will look and feel like it's sunburnt. Cool compresses and moisturizers will help. If your face was treated, you can wear makeup the next day unless your skin is blistering.
Over the next month, your treated hair will fall out. Wear sunscreen for the following month to help prevent temporary changes in the color of the treated skin.
Designer beard at CSI - We cater to our patient requirements, and customize beard and moustache as per their wishes and help them design one that suits them the best. The end result is a perfectly outlined beard at all times giving the patient an overall well-groomed effect. With our treatment you need not worry about changes in shape of the beard every time you go to the barber’s shop.
Pubic Hair designs - You can now surprise your partner with pubic hair art. Our trained technicians can create shapes in the hair on the pubic region so that hair grows from only specific areas. Please be informed that these designs cannot be altered.
Grey hair removal - Permanently
Grey hair cannot be treated with laser for a very simple reason that it does not contain pigment (black), which is required to absorb the laser rays hence lasers don’t work on grey hair. We undertake permanent white hair removals using the RF technology. Each hair follicle is treated individually by the specialized radio frequency probe. This is a very tedious process and requires a high degree of precision to get the best results.
