Mobilization is very important as this prevents formation of blood clots in the legs. The earlier you are out of bed the better. Injury to deeper organs is rare as the procedure is done under direct vision. CT scan is done preoperatively to assess any weakness of the abdominal wall or pick up intra abdominal lesions that can contribute to abdominal fullness.
