Options include simply rounding off the chin button, if esthetically appropriate, removal of some bone to reduce the chin height or sliding back the chin button to reduce projection. Fixation would be with titanium plates and screws.

Medications post operatively will include a short course of antibiotics  and  pain pills as and when needed.

Preoperatively cessation of smoking and use of alcohol recommended  for 2 – 3 weeks.

Postoperatively must follow the same as well as avoid any strenuous activity, gym workout and any contact sports for a period of 4 weeks.

The standard risks of surgery not limited to and including bleeding, bruising, numbness of lip and chin region (temporary or transient), post – op pain and swelling is to be expected.

Choice of anesthesia include local with or without sedation or general anesthesia.
